From related categoriesHow to use this calculator
- Enter the price and quantity of Product A and pick its unit.
- Do the same for Product B.
- Keep both in the same kind of unit: weight, volume or pieces.
- Read which product is cheaper and by how much.
The formula
Worked example
Product A is ₹120 for 500 g, which is ₹240 per kg. Product B is ₹210 for 1 kg. Product B is cheaper by ₹30 per kg, which is 12.5%.
Understanding your result
The cheaper product per unit is not always the best buy: a larger pack only saves money if you use it before it spoils. The chart compares the two unit prices side by side.
When to use it
- Choose between small and bulk packs.
- Compare brands at different sizes.
- Check whether an offer is really a discount.
Assumptions and limits
Both products must be measured the same way. Weight cannot be compared with volume. The result ignores quality, shelf life and delivery charges.
Frequently asked questions
How do I compare prices of different pack sizes?
Divide each price by its quantity to get a price per kg, litre or piece, then compare.
Is a bigger pack always cheaper per unit?
Not always. Check the unit price rather than assuming.
Can I compare a pack in grams with one in kilograms?
Yes. The calculator converts both to a common unit.
Why can I not compare kg with litres?
Weight and volume are different measures, so the comparison would not be meaningful.
What is a unit price?
The price of one standard unit, such as per kg, per litre or per piece.
