The formula
Worked example
A 15 ft × 12 ft room is 180 sq ft. With 10% wastage you buy 198 sq ft. At ₹90 per sq ft the material costs ₹17,820. Labour at ₹25 per sq ft is ₹4,500. Adding ₹2,000 of other costs gives ₹24,320, or ₹135 per sq ft all-in.
Understanding your result
The all-in cost per sq ft is often much higher than the material rate, which is why quotes can seem different. Compare it across options.
When to use it
- Compare the total cost of wood, vinyl, marble and tile.
- Check a contractor's quote.
- Plan a budget for a renovation.
Assumptions and limits
These are planning estimates. Real use depends on material quality, site conditions and workmanship. Confirm quantities with your engineer or contractor before ordering. Rates vary by city, brand and installer. Use the Tile Calculator when you need the number of tiles.
